Seize the Night... A Gothic Vampire Action Short! (December 2014)

Fans of Underworld (2003) and Blade (1998) should really sink their teeth into a new Action Short co-directed and produced by Dark Morte - see, HERE for Interview. SEIZE THE NIGHT is an original British independent horror short. The film will be a high octane thrill ride influenced by the likes of Blade, Underworld, Dracula (2000), True Blood (TV Series) and Razor Blade Smile (1998). The story follows EVA (played by Emma Dark), a renegade vampire assassin, on her action filled journey to the truth. The film opens shortly after she has escaped from a secret government compound, a centre for the most nefarious biological experiments. Following her escape Eva is confronted by her life long enemy and is forced into a situation of such gravity she may have to deal with the devil she knows best in order to fight a far greater evil.

The film is to go into production in early 2015. Please, check out the Seize the Night Indiegogo. The film also stars Carey Thring and Paul Ewen. Screenplay by Richard Humphries. The production looks really promising and slick - it will feature werewolves and vampires and dark action sequences. Please support this project and it's potential.

A Christmas Story (1983) (Review) (December 2014)

"A Christmas Story" (1983) - directed by Bob Clark.

"You'll shoot your eye out!" - I love A Christmas Story (1983). All that young Ralphie wants for the festive season is a Red-Rider BB gun! He tries all the best hints over narrative from his older version through out this quirky comedy from the late Bob Clark (see Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things - Review). Ralphie has a younger, yet confused brother and a strict mum and dad about him using the word "Fudge"... "Except, I didn't say FUDGE!". Comedy ensues in school to for the kids and in the shape of bully Skut Farkus and an evil, crony sidekick.

Kids get their tongue's stuck to frozen poles, dad wins an erotic leg window lamp... it's all good fun for 90 minutes and will Ralphie get what he wished for after seeing a deranged, cruel Santa Claus at the mall?

I enjoyed the mother and father's acting in all of this. Some great performances and slapstick style comedy moments for all to enjoy. The soap in Ralphie's mouth for swearing is hilarious and his come-back of going blind to teach mum and dad a lesson is priceless. Bob Clark really sets the mood for a fun, festive Christmas-style movie with a difference. A brilliant, quirky classic for the family and don't forget to wear your pink bunny costume from your unknowing auntie!

A Christmas Story was also made into a stage-play for the Holidays. The Region 2 version doesn't have any special features... try the Region 1 version, which does. There was also a throw-away sequel that came to dvd, but not gonna talk about that! Just enjoy this film!! Peace on earth to all man.

Jessica Ann Bonner (Interview) (December 2014)

Jessica Ann Bonner promoting "Tombs"
Miss Jessica Ann Bonner is a horror fan. She is a model/dancer and studied acting in college and is a former Storm Babes daytime TV presenter. Jess is the girlfriend to horror director Dan Brownlie and a number of terror films are in production. Bonner is set to produce Bad Moon Rising with actress/model/girl-pal, Dani Thompson for whom the starred in Serial Kaller together. Other features to watch out for Jessica in are The Tombs: Rise of the Damned, The Undead, Invasion of the Not Quite Dead, Devil's Tower and Self-Induced Nightmares - Part 2.

How did you meet director Dan Brownlie?
"We met on set of his first horror feature - Serial Kaller I was lucky enough to play the delightfully dopey and funny Frankie along side Dani Thompson, Suzi Lorraine and Debbie Rochon."

What was it like to work on Christmas Slay? - See, HERE.
"Crazy!! That's the honest answer! Amazing, but absolutely crazy! Everything that could possibly go wrong - did. All in the first night I might add! Although it was the most fun I had ever had on a film set, I made some amazing friends, have hilarious memories and the best time ever. Acting wise was difficult, my costume is tiny! And we were filming in the ski slopes so throughout the entire film I was frozen BUT it worked it really brought out the fight in me. Which helps when fighting a lunatic Santa."

Tell me more about the films you are Producing?
"Well I'm currently working on Bad Moon Rising (see, HERE) and The Tombs: Rise of the Damned both of which I'm very fortunate to be involved with! Bad moon actually came about when me and Dani Thompson were on set in Bulgaria, we decided to go exploring and film some bits and pieces. We came across an old abandoned school, when I stupidly decided to break in and drag Dani with me! We heard a growl in the creepy basement and  both came running out, the whole thing was caught on camera and thus Bad Moon was born! "

"The Tombs is the brain child of brand B and is set in the scare attraction itself! I was fortunate enough to work on it from the early stages right up to now, we've been green lit!"

What are your Favorite horror films?
"Oh god! Too many! I LOOOOOVE Scream (1996)! My all time favourite! Halloween (1978) is also high up on my list. And American Mary (2012) - both Dani and Dan kept bugging me to watch it, and I finally got round to watching it and instantly fell In love."

You are huge Festival goer... Which do you think are the best ones?
"Yes! I'm a huge festival goer! The best one? Download Festival by far!! You pass out drunk, you wake up drunk! In the middle you jump around to amazing bands, get punched in the mosh pit and eat dodgy food prepared in a van! What's not to love!"

Emma Dark (Interview) (December 2014)

Emma Dark - Alternative model and actress from London.
The nights are drawing in, the darkness is coming. Let me introduce you to Emma Dark - Alternative model, film-maker and actress from London. She interviews and networks on the horror scene such as Fright Fest and is about to make a cameo in Dan Brownlie's Bad Moon with Dani Thompson and Jessica Ann Bonner. She also does interviews on the horror and alternative scene for her Youtube. For further details, please see her Star Now and Official website.

You were picked to have a Cameo in upcoming horror, Bad moon - How did you get involved?

"Yes, that is correct.  I interviewed Dan Brownlie (director of the upcoming film ‘The Tombs: Rise of the Damned’ and of course Bad Moon) back at this years Film4 FrightFest as part of my coverage for my web show ‘Frights and Delights’.  Through Dan I met the lovely Jessica Ann Bonner and Dani Thompson, both stars of Bad Moon and Dani also being the producer.  Dani actually asked me, only this week, so it’s a really nice surprise for me."

How long have you been modelling?
"For around six years, now. I’ve modeled both commercial and alternative.  In 2012 I won World Goth Day’s ‘Best model’. Although I still model I’m more involved and interested in presenting/interviewing and acting these days."

"This year I've covered FrightFest, interviewed some well known names on the paranormal scene and even Helen Slater from Supergirl (1984)!  I've also had the honor of judging at this years prestigious British Horror Film Festival."

"Another string to my bow is attending sci-fi conventions as a professional Selene (Underworld) lookalike, for which I did a signing alongside some key sci-fi celebs at Doncaster’s KnightCon this year.  I've also fronted an alternative synth-pop band and run an 80’s night club.  You could say I’m multi-skilled!"

Who would you like to Interview in future?
"That’s a tough one, there are lots of people and subjects I find very interesting and do have a few amazing people on the cards from both the cult film and paranormal scenes but ultimately it would have to be Grace Jones or Jessica Lange.  As awesomely strong women and top of the game in their fields it would be a real treat to interview them."

Any plans to direct?
"I’ve actually just made a 1970’s zombie fan film trailer. Co-directed and shot by me in Greece earlier in the year.  The film is mid-edit, again by me and will require full ADR once that’s complete but will be pretty accurate and hopefully entertaining once complete."

"So here’s the real biggie, I am pre-production on a glossy action horror short right now.  I can’t reveal too much but I’m producing, co-directing and starring as the lead.  I have and excellent cast and crew on-board including famous stuntman and fight co-ordinator Roy Scammell (Alien, A Clockwork Orange, Superman etc.) and founder of the St Alban’s film festival Donato Cinicolo both co-directing and assuming the role of DOP. " - Please see Seize the Night.

"One thing I've realised is I'm never at a loss for something to do.  I work hard to get excellent results in everything I do and continually keep pushing myself to grow alongside my projects.  You only live once as they say!"

Who is the ultimate horror hostess in your opinion?
"Elvira, out and out.  She’s both gorgeous, sassy, vampy, likable and iconic.  There can only be one!"
