Mel Heflin: the Unknown Indie Horror Actress! (Interview) (December 2013)

Actress/Model Mel Heflin.
Mel Heflin is a sweet lady who resigns in Florida, USA. She is a actress who does her own stunts and models between films and voice acting and is a keen animal lover.

She has been in the modelling since 2003, and for the next 6 years she has done all sorts of modelling, from swimwear, to fetish, to lingerie and nude. In 2009, she caught the acting bug with her debut in Scarlet Rain as Cece and acted in a fantasy horror called, Jinn. Since then she has worked on a dozen projects, from shorts and web series to features. One of her most recent roles will be a part in Carlos Dunn's: I Thought You Were A Nice Man once the funding is rasied - see HERE.

Mel has an impressive imdb acting list, but due to lack of funds, again - some features were never finished so her future plans are to make one herself. She enjoys the horror genre and shows like The Walking Dead, in which she would love to be a part of, even as a Zombie for the popular show one day and meet the cast.

Heflin has also worked with artists Dennis Willman, Bobby Ray Akers Jr and on the fantasy Comic Book: Frosty: Twas the Night Before the Apocalypse in which characters were modeled after her and good friend and body-painter, Samantha WPG among other internet model.

Check out Mel's Facebook Page and Twitter Page whilst her website can be found, HERE.
Indie Horror, Scarlet Rain can be watched online, HERE.

Can you tell me a bit about the internet horror film, Scarlet Rain?
It was my first film ever! My acting was rough around the edges back then haha! I was sad to have a few scenes cut when I first saw it, but you learn to accept stuff like that. Its due to get a re-release soon I've heard.?

Do you plan to make films yourself, seeing that you are on the Independent film scene
I do actually! I'm keeping it mainly under-wraps since we all know how films like to drop off the face of the earth. I have the script being written by an incredible script writer! Keep your finger's crossed for me from directing in the past. I love it!

In that case, who are the filmmakers you look up to?
Tim Burton and George A Romero will always be my favorite film makers!

How come some of your films never got made or Produced?
I have no idea. I come in, do my job, then move on to the next project. Its really sad because there is some really long hours and hard work and blood and sweat and tears put into some of those films. Everyone was so passionate about them in the beginning then they disappear. That's the key to why I want to attempt my own film.

I've lost too many incredible movies that I so badly wanted to share with the world. I won't let a project fail on my own account. It breaks my heart when people buying autographs from me at cons ask "how is (film name) going?" and I have no idea because the producers disappear and none of the cast or crew know where our hard work went. Its looking up though! I know some of my work is due out in 2014.

How did you get involved with the "Frosty" comic book?
Samantha Wpg (a good friend of mine) introduced me to Dennis Willman and Bobby Akers, all fantastic people! They create truly unique projects that I'm honored to be a part of.

What are your favorite horror movies/non-horror movies?
Favorite movies are Zombie Strippers, Diary of the Dead and most well made indie films.

Christmas Slay - Festive Indie Horror from Kent, UK! (Interview) (December 2013)

Ho Ho Ho, merry Christmas horror and fright fans... have you heard of Christmas Slay??? I mentioned it in my last post, it stars glamour model Dani Thompson and is directed by Kent Independent Films' Steve Davis. It is scheduled to start filming in February, 2014 and has had various online funding campaigns behind it such as Kickstarter. A killer Santa clause is on the loose and the body count is going up, I hope Steve can deliver on this horror project, spawned from the Indywood team. We all ready know what Antony D Lane is doing with his unique Zombie film, so can Steve do the same and help put Kent on the map with his own festive horror film?

When do you start filming Xmas Slay, Steve?
"We start production of the main Christmas Slay shoot on February 8th (2014), on our return we will be releasing a teaser and doing one last big fundraiser via indiegogo or Sponsume to cover additional shooting and post before completing filming in April."

When do you aim to release the film? (Difficult Question, it may seem in Indie-film terms)
"In terms or release i honestly haven't got a clue at this early stage, our aim is to have Christmas Slay completely finished by November with its première in December, it will then be my priority to make sure all of our AMAZING backers and supporters get to see the film before anyone else, so if all goes to plan a few of our backers should be watching Christmas Slay on DVD by Christmas."

Who are you looking forward to meeting/working with on the film?
"Each and everyone of them, i am extremely lucky to have such an amazing and talented crew involved in our film, it is going to be an absolute honor to work with each and everyone of them."
Model/Actress Dani Thompson stars in Christmas Slay.

Will there be a sequel?
"That completely depends on the success of the first film, im hoping horror fans like it and that there is a demand to see a sequel as it is something i would love to do, the original idea was to make 3 Christmas Slay movies, so if people want it, it will happen."

Are you a festive man, yourself?
"Yeah Christmas is by far my favorite time of the year, I just love the lights and over the top decorations, its a romantic happy time."

What are your favorite Christmas Horror Movies?
"My all time favorite Christmas horror has to be Rare Exports, which is quite surprising as there is NOT one female in the whole film, its madness, but i love films such as Saint and the original Black Christmas, i also enjoyed last years Silent Night."

How can people help raise the funds for Xmas Slay?
"People can help in so many ways, they can donate through our site, they can tell there family and friends, they can share through social media and retweet up on Twitter, any donation and anything that helps us spread the word about Christmas Slay really helps alot."

Thank You, Steve!!
Please check out the Latest Christmas Slay Indiegogo in order to support the film and project - I promise it'll be all worth it and Steve is always good on his promise!

Invasion of the Not Quite Dead! (December 2013)

Check out the Blu-Rays... Ant & daughter, Daisy!
Anthony D Lane has been a busy man as of late, marriage, a new daughter, touring with indie/rock band, Wheatus, etc;. His new take on the zombie genre is being shot in various different locations like Kent and even in Europe. It's called INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD and I even became a Producer on it to show my support. What does Ant need donations for? Well, I'll tell you, he has been busy building sets and paying actors and make-up people get his dream done. It started out on Twitter and has blown up over the internet with horror and indie folks everywhere around the world. He promises it to be a spin on his favorite film genres, Zombies and B-Movies.

Anthony is also doing this for his late Legendary film mentor, Ken Russell, who he met in 2006 at film school and is honoring the film maker in doing the project. Others on the project are special effects make up lady, Michele Mulkey, who has worked on several Hollywood films in the past and Ant's long time friend Steve Davis - who is filming Christmas Slay with glamour model Dani Thompson. Even if you can't afford a donation, please share this blog page or the fundraising site as mentioned below and SUPPORT Indie Horror and film.

REVIEW: Jason Brown's "A Date With Ghost" - Supernatural Indie Horror Review From Nottingham (October 2013)

Jason Brown has always had a fascination with the supernatural and in "A Date with Ghosts", he has put together a 70 minute mini feature shot in Nottingham with great merits. I was lucky enough to see this film as a test screen-er on the internet in 2013.

A Date with Ghosts is well put together and the title sequence credits really stood out for me in their high looking production values. Jason has reportedly spent over £1K on this very ambitious horror film. The acting is good (i.e. lead actress, Sadie Kime) and the jump scare techniques were very well done and edited. There seem to be some unedited screen shots, but I assume this was to be fixed as Jason takes the film to festivals.

What impressed me is that things look higher in values in this feature. I hope it does well for him and Jason even has an acting role. The locations all look good in the country side and derelict church buildings added with matte and cgi techniques for shots that are worth seeing alone. Also, the high over-head tree shots are good, too. It also has some creepy looking ritual monk figures that terrorize the cast, mainly female.

Rating: 3.5 out 5 = Turn out the lights and dwell in indie horror from a hard working, Nottingham filmmaker. Horror/Indie fans should love it. Be sure to join the Facebook Page. Subscribe to Jason Brown on Youtube. Also, be sure to check out this Evening Post Interview with Sadie and Jay - Good work, guys! Another Update, is that the feature has now been picked up by Wild Eye Releasing in New York - exciting stuff!

Debra Lamb: 80's Scream Queen of Hearts! (Interview) (October 2013)

Debra Lamb in Beverly Hills Vamp (1989)
Debra Lamb is a special lady who lives in Northern California. She is an Actress, a Producer, Psychic, Animal lover and Vegan. Many of her fans will know her from 80's cult horror classics like The Invisible Maniac (1990), Beverly Hills Vamp (1989) and more recently The G-String Horror (2012). Debra was a horror and Electric Blue pin-up in the mid-to-late 80s and even did a work out video tape with Traci Lords. She has worked with many horror stars like Michael Berryman, the late Karen Black and many others over the past few decades. In more recent times, the lovely Debra has been producing with long time friend Joe Hollow on films like Disciples (2013), A Blood Story (2013), and their upcoming film Cannibals (2014). These films reunited her with past horror stars like Berryman, Brinke Stevens and even Linnea Quigley. I have known Miss Lamb on facebook for a few years now and thought I'd approach her for an interview in time for Halloween.

Debra Lamb is also a classically trained ballet dancer who turned her sights to acting after moving to Los Angeles with her family. While pursuing her acting career, she dedicated herself to studying acting, continued dancing, and became a skilled fire-eater. Debra has a loyal, friendly fan base online and I can see why, check out her facebook page: Debra Lamb Extreme and Debra Lamb Psychic Healing!  And... doesn't she make a good vampire, horror fans?

1) Debra, what are your favourite movies... Horror or Not?
"Favorite movies: To Have and Have Not (1944), The Thin Man (1934), True Romance (1993), and my all time favorite horror movies would have to be the original Fright Night (1985) and The Wolf Man (1941), to name a few."

2) Do you prefer Producing or Acting, now?
Debra Lamb, 2013.
"I get a different kind of satisfaction from producing, and I love it, but acting will always be my first and true love. Honestly, I can't see doing just one or the other. They go hand in hand for me now."

3) Did you mind doing nude in the 80's?
"No--nudity never bothered me if I were playing a real character. I turned down many jobs where they just wanted someone with a nice body, but there wasn't any real acting involved."

4) What was your favourite magazine back then to model for?
"I loved working with Bill George, the editor of FEMMES FATALES magazine, and I was always thrilled to see myself in FANGORIA magazine."

5) Favourite Animal/Pet?
"I love all animals and have had cats, dogs, a boa constrictor, and when I was a little kid, I had several rats as pets. Currently I have two birds--a cockatiel and a parakeet."

6) Favourite food/dish?
"I love food--all of it! I try to stay on a vegan and gluten free diet, but I must confess I find it difficult when my non-vegetarian husband is such a great cook! I especially love gluten-free pasta."

7) Prince Harry or William or Will-I-am?
"Definitely Will-I-am."

8) Can you tell me a spooky experience you have had?
"I had the most interesting, and I must confess, a bit spooky, experience working on Charles Webb's The G-String Horror. I did an actual psychic reading on the building, which was incorporated into the film itself, and the Market Street Cinema is without a doubt haunted. I picked up on several tragic events. Fires, an accidental drug overdose of a visiting performer, the murder of one of the strippers who worked there, and a vortex located at the center of the stage of the original theater."

Thank you, Debra! Thank you for taking the time for the "MrSheltonTV" blog page. For more information, please check the links on this post. The G-String Horror is out now on DVD. Another project, Debra is backing and producing is Wrestling documentary, Wrestling With Disaster with Anthony R Bruno Jr. Please, check out the below a short film featuring Debra called, Event (2001).

REVIEW: Night of the Demons (1988) plus The After Party??? (October 2013)

It wouldn't be Halloween without a Horror film. Here's a classic one from 1988 called Night of the Demons and it was directed by Kevin S Tenney of Witchboard fame. Old Hull House is haunted and it plays host to a Halloween party for rowdy and sexed-up teenagers who just wanna have some fun. Soon, after a seance is held, Angela - the party hostess - is possessed by evil powers and soon starts to become a ghoulish demon, vent on making sure her party guests have a HELL of a time on Halloween night! It's up to the last survivors to escape the Nightmare and put an end to the Night of the Demons.

The film's main Scream Queen star is played by Linnea Quigley from Return of the Living Dead (now with blonde hair) and she gets up to no good, being possessed or NOT. She also has a topless scene involving her make up and lipstick which features make up effects by her former husband, Steve Johnson... watch out for this scene! Her partner in crime, Angela is played by Amelia Kinkade, who is now a pet psychic in real life. The special effects are fun and the set pieces of Hull House are amazing to look at in all it's Gothic, gory glory and the 80's Rock/Punk/Pop soundtrack keeps it all very nostalgic. Any Horror fan should get a kick out of this film. It is on Region 2 dvd with Special Features: Interviews, Promo Reel, Video Trailer, Theatrical Trailer & TV Spots. It's also at a nice price, too so I think everybody should definite pick this one up for the spooky season!

The film was followed by two sequels and in 2009, a remake of the same name was released starring Terminator 2's Edward Furlong. There has also been a talk of a sequel to that with a Kickstarter campaign run by Anthony Hickox and Tiffany Shepis but no update has come a long while for the project and seems in limbo... or even HELL, itself! What ever is happening with this project, I just wanted to share it all with you and see if others out there can HELP, too in future! Tenney is also set to Produce the Horror sequel.

The film comes out on 3D Blu Ray & Dvd in November, so DON'T MISS IT. Here are a few main themes from the movie done in METAL, Enjoy...
